The miniature show (and fibre fortnight) is/are up! Hooray! I am exhausted. We’d been getting worried at the last if we’d have enough submissions, but we’ve had about 43, which is apparently more than last year, and with only like three weeks notice! It’s pretty exciting to accomplish something like that. On the other hand, today I tried to get someone in the second year print class to clean some display cases for me(suggested by an instructor) but everyone was suddenly coincidentally “very busy”. I guess I’m not very compelling. I briefly considered bribing someone, but then I decided that I didn’t want to give anyone anything if they were being useless. Funnily enough, the same thing happened when I tried the home studio, and Jen and Melissa and I ended up doing it. It’s the same people, every time. I guess they don’t realize that the money goes to them for next year, as the major department fundraiser.
The sculpture department was supposed to move their stuff, but then Friday afternoon suddenly their stuff was even more in the way than before. That made no sense, and then it turned out half their department is on a trip to Mexico. We finally ended up just moving them ourselves on Saturday, and then we dragged out the wall panels, put them together, filled, sanded and painted them. While we were painting, a guy came out to ask why we’d moved his piece over, so apparently nobody told any of them that they needed to pick up their work. Harrumph. Sunday was setup, and some people came to help with that, which was awesome. I kind of wish we had known when setup would be a little sooner, as we’d been waiting to hear back from sculpture. Because of that, I didn’t have time to have the day off work, so went to setup from 9-12 and then work at 12:30, then because I’d been so behind, I had to come back to the school to put up my piece for the show. Phew!
So all that’s left now is these stuffed letters that say “Miniature Show” and one more label for a late submission. Hooray!
